Tuesday Night: Gotham West Market - Ivan Ramen and Genuine Roadside

Towards the end of one year, my friends thought that we weren't hanging out enough. It's true, we weren't. So they started Tuesday night get-togethers. Every Tuesday, we'll pick a bar to drink, eat, and hang out for a couple of hours. Whoever can make it will attend. If you're busy, it's okay. There's always next week. So this is Tuesday Nights on Tasty Eating where you will find bars that serve food and how we like them.



On this recent Tuesday Night, we headed out to: Gotham West Market



I really wish this food court was open when Mr. M&P and I used to live in Hell's Kitchen. It was would certainly made it in our weekly rotation for food.

They have some pretty tasty places in there like Ivan Ramen which is all the rage right now. His sweet savory ramen broth, chewy noodles, and garnishes have been praised by many. On my night there, I had the Classic Shoyu ($13) with his famous chicken broth, chasu, and added an egg (+$2). Delicious and flavorful. The rye ramen noodles were heartier than most noodles and paired well with the broth. Overall, it's a lighter ramen but I don't mind it at all. It's certainly different and yet very delicious.

Paul's Da Burger Joint and Pomme Frites

Do you want a classic New York moment? Well then, eat a pub style burger from Paul's Da Burger Joint.

You'll find a thick hand formed patty. Add cheese and bacon if you please. But skip the onion rings. In fact, skip the sides in general. I'll get back to that later.

Clarke's Standard

An unexpected fire truck emergency blocking in our car dashed our dinner plans one day. So instead, we walked around the Union Square area looking for something to eat. We stumbled upon Clarke's Standard and decided to give it a try. Burgers, fries, fast, cheap, and delicious? Maybe.

Umami Burger

So what's this hoopla about Umami Burger? Best burger in the country? Wow, that is a bold statement but with that kind of press, I really have to go and see what it's all about. Lucky for me, Dessert Zombie decided to pick Umami Burger as his choice to celebrate his birthday (this was month and month ago).

Since Umami Burger doesn't take reservations, we tried to arrive before the evening rush to grab a table. When we arrived, they weren't taking names down because of some system issue. So we just had to wait until our entire party arrived. When we did all get there, they were taking names down. WTF! We were annoyed! Why did they lie and say they weren't taking names down when they clearly were doing so at some point? They need to work on the front of the house.
